Bijl PR nominated for two Sabre Awards
Great news! Bijl PR has been nominated for two SABRE Awards, an international recognition for outstanding PR campaigns. This year, we stand a chance with two projects:
- ‘24/7 Diabetes’ – our campaign for Dexcom Benelux in the Medical Technology category.
- Burengesprek Botlek Europoort – a successful platform for dialogue between companies and residents, nominated in the Chemicals & Industrials category.
The SABRE Awards highlight the most inspiring and innovative PR campaigns worldwide, and we are proud that our work is among them!
More awareness for diabetes
Diabetes affects 1.2 million Dutch people, but knowledge about the disease remains limited. People with diabetes need to be alert 24/7 – their glucose levels are affected by as many as 42 factors. Yet many prejudices still exist, such as the misconception that diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar or that people with diabetes should not eat sugar.
Together with Dexcom Benelux, we developed ‘24/7 Diabetes’, a 360-degree campaign that creates awareness and breaks myths. The result? 4 million people reached and a 7% increase in Dexcom brand awareness among people with type 1 diabetes. We are extremely proud that this campaign has been awarded a SABRE nomination!

Connecting businesses and residents
Botlek-Europoort is one of Europe’s largest industrial areas, where work is carried out 24/7 and safety is essential. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people live in the immediate vicinity. To bring companies and residents closer together, we launched the Botlek Europoort Burengesprek (Neighbourhood Conversation) Foundation in 2019. This platform ensures open dialogue and transparency between companies, residents and authorities.
Over the past five years, we have reached over 340,000 people through the website and social media. Every year, we also organise (local) physical events where companies, governments and residents come together to talk about a safe and liveable environment. An approach in which we do not talk about residents, but with them. That this effort is now rewarded with a SABRE nomination is wonderful recognition!
Inside look at the SABRE Awards: jury member Marjoleine
This year, our colleague Marjoleine van Klaveren had the honour of being part of the SABRE Awards as a jury member. In recent weeks, she judged no fewer than 106 cases in four categories. An inspiring experience, in which the creativity and results of agencies from the EMEA region was proven.
On Wednesday 2 April, the awards ceremony will take place in London. Fingers crossed!
