MARKTPLAATS HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN WINS BRONZE EFFIE AWARD AND SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD
On November 16th 2023, Marktplaats received the Bronze Effie Award for its holiday campaign. The campaign was created through a collaboration between Marktplaats, Happiness Amsterdam, EssenceMediacom, Abovo Maxlead, Higuita and Bijl PR. Besides the bronze Effie Award, Marktplaats also received an award for social impact; the Social Plus. We are very proud of this result, but above all very happy that the message we had in mind has come across.
The jury report: “There are many prejudices surrounding second-hand toys: they are dirty and often incomplete. And because parents do not want to disappoint their children, they often buy new presents, a quarter of which remain unused. As it turns out, children do not share their parents’ prejudices; they are also happy with ‘pre-loved’ toys. Marktplaats based an emotionally convincing campaign on this insight, resulting in a substantial growth in page views and replies. The platform thus managed to boost interest in second-hand toys and improve its image and perception. The connection between commercial and social ambition was strong. Marktplaats broke down barriers thanks to its impactful approach that addresses the themes of sustainability and opportunity equality.”
Multiple awards for the campaign
The campaign was also awarded a Sabre Award and a YouTube Works Award earlier this year. Marktplaats was even named the 2023 winner during this show. The jury thought the video was so good that, in addition to the Changemakers award, Marktplaats also walked away with the Grand prize. In addition, the campaign garnered a nomination for the SBI Trade Awards of the Year 2023 (Sustainable Brand Index).
The awards and nominations don’t stop there, because on Friday 8 December we will travel to Berlin, as the holiday campaign will also be in with a chance of winning an international PR award there. For the European Excellence Awards, we have been nominated no less than four times in the categories Purpose Driven Communications, Sustainability & Environment, Multi-Channel Communications and Benelux & France.
