BIJL PR WINS EUROPEAN PR AWARD WITH MARKTPLAATS HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN

Bijl PR wins European Excellence award in Benelux & France category with the Marktplaats holiday campaign.

The European Excellence Awards are presented each year and honour the most exceptional achievements in PR and communication campaigns within Europe. The jury reviews the entries based on their creativity, innovation and strategy. This year’s awards were presented on the 8th of December in Berlin.

Give second-hand toys as gifts more often

Last year, Marktplaats launched a campaign to inspire (grand)parents to choose second-hand toys as gifts more often. It makes no difference to children, but all the more for the environment, ones’ wallet and the world. An unscripted experiment with children, initiated for the campaign and shown in a TV commercial, shows that children don’t mind receiving second-hand toys. The prejudices of (grand)parents about second-hand toys – my child doesn’t like them, they are ‘dirty’ or ‘damaged’ – were disproved by the children with their sincere and fun reactions. The campaign led to an increase of 10% in the demand for second-hand toys on Marktplaats. Earlier this year, the campaign was also awarded with two YouTube Works Awards (Changemakers and Grand Prix), the Sustainable Brand Index prize and most recently a Golden Effie!

We are extremely proud of winning this award! Last year, we kicked off our campaign with the aim of showing people the value of gifting second-hand toys. And that children are fine with this. We achieved great results and we see that people are becoming more aware of the benefits of second hand products. This year too, we see that this trend continues, second-hand is becoming more and more normal.” Maaike Veeling, Head of Communications Benelux, Marktplaats

Six nominations for Bijl PR

Bijl PR was nominated in no less than six categories for  the European Excellence awards! Marktplaats’ holiday campaign was nominated in the categories Purpose Driven Communications, Sustainability & Environment, Multi-Channel Communications and Benelux & France. Our fingers were crossed two times in the category Benelux and France. T-Mobile Netherlands’ transformation into Odido also stood a chance of winning an award in that category. Furthermore, Odido was nominated in the Launch category. Despite not winning any awards within these categories, the six nominations are a great compliment to our work and clients. We return to Rotterdam feeling proud and grateful!
