A highly successful PR campaign: record number of new community first responders for the Dutch Heart Foundation
Every week, around 300 people in the Netherlands suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital. In the critical first minutes, every second counts - and community first responders play a vital role in saving lives. These trained volunteers are alerted when someone in their neighbourhood experiences cardiac arrest, enabling them to begin CPR before the emergency services arrive. On average, they reach the patient two and a half minutes sooner than an ambulance, significantly increasing the chances of survival.
A strong nationwide network of community first responders is therefore essential. Bijl PR supported de Hartstichting (the Dutch Heart Foundation) in its nationwide recruitment campaign to encourage more people to join this life-saving network. The results were remarkable: dozens of media publications and more than 2,000 new registrations within just two days.
