Two European nominations for Heart foundation and Dexcom Benelux
What an honour! Bijl PR has been nominated for this year’s European Excellence Awards, the prize that recognises the best communication campaigns in Europe. With our campaigns for the Dutch Heart Foundation and Dexcom Benelux, we are in the running for an award.
From heart health to diabetes awareness, our campaigns not only made the news, but also touched the hearts of thousands of people. These nominations are a wonderful compliment to our clients and to the team that works on communications that make a difference every single day. We have been nominated in the Storytelling and Western Europe categories.

Heart checkpoints raise awareness of heart health
Many Dutch people over the age of 40 are at risk of cardiovascular disease without realising it. That is why the Dutch Heart Foundation, together with Bijl PR, launched the Heart Checkpoints campaign: 400 free testing locations throughout the country where people can have their blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels measured without an appointment. The campaign kicked off nationwide with an eye-catching Heart Check Bus that visited twelve cities. During the campaign week from 19 to 24 May 2025, nearly 1,400 people visited a checkpoint; of the more than 6,400 measurements taken, 44% were elevated, 17% of which were in people who were not yet aware of this. The campaign generated a lot of attention, awareness and tangible health results.

Raising awareness about diabetes
Diabetes affects 1.2 million people in the Netherlands, but knowledge about the disease remains limited. People with diabetes must be alert 24/7 – their glucose levels are influenced by no fewer than 42 factors. Yet there are still many misconceptions, such as the mistaken belief that diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar or that people with diabetes cannot eat sugar at all.
Together with Dexcom Benelux, we developed “24/7 Diabetes”, a 360-degree campaign that raises awareness and dispels myths. The result? We reached 4 million people and achieved a 7% increase in Dexcom’s brand awareness among people with type 1 diabetes.

Off to Berlin on 5 December!
