Bijl PR celebrates European Excellence Award victory

The champagne popped at the Coolsingel last Friday! On December 6, Bijl PR won a European Excellence Award (EEA) with the campaign for the National Sugar Challenge. The campaign was commissioned by the Diabetes Fund and we were nominated not once but twice in the categories Benelux & France and Participation Campaign. We are incredibly proud to have secured an award in the Participation Campaign category!

The European Excellence Awards is a prestigious industry prize that highlights the best PR and marketing campaigns across Europe. The jury, comprised of industry experts, selects the winners based on creativity, impact and strategy. This year, we hit the jackpot!

Raising awareness about hidden sugars

For the seventh time, the Diabetes Fund organized the National Sugar Challenge: a week challenging participants to avoid consuming added sugars for seven days. This meant no sweets, biscuits, ready-made meals, or sugary drinks for example. Thanks to a clever PR strategy, the campaign reached millions of people, with over 100,000 Dutch participants joining the challenge. The National Sugar Challenge was impossible to miss in the media!

Helen Taylor, project manager and advisor at Bijl PR, shares her excitement:
“I am incredibly proud! The European Excellence Award is a wonderful recognition of the impressive results and media visibility we achieved. It’s amazing that this campaign contributed to the Diabetes Fund’s goal of raising awareness about the amount of added sugars in our daily diets and promoting healthier eating habits.”
