Nieke Kempen

I originally come from Brabant. I spent six years in Utrecht before moving to Amsterdam last summer. Living within walking distance of Vondelpark, cosy local pubs and a - fairly long - distance from Bijl by bike, I already feel completely at home in Amsterdam.

In Utrecht, I studied Communication & Information Sciences and Public Administration & Organisational Studies. Work placements at the Institute of Network Cultures and at the Corporate Communications Department at Royal Philips Electronics gave me a brief taste of the communications profession. It quickly became clear to me that I wanted to work for an agency. Attracted by the customer contact, the variety of tasks and creativity, I began working as a Junior Advisor at NewsLab. After just under a year, I chose to move to Bijl as a consultant. I already feel perfectly at home in Bijl's informal and entrepreneurial environment.

During my three-month trip through South America from Quito to Buenos Aires, I was bitten by the travel bug. I really enjoy exploring the unknown with a copy of the Lonely Planet and a backpack and making a new adventure out of every day. The nature in Bolivia in particular was so overwhelming and unspoilt. It was truly impressive! I have plenty of subsequent trips planned. All I need to do now is make time to take them!

I also enjoy art (modern art), photography, Foam, fashion, spinach tart, fish, Vondelpark, Marqt, Tony Chocolonely, Buenos Aires, Sade, Spain, sun, sea, city trips, art house films, Volver, Pedro Almodóvar, Greenwheels, DWDD, De Volkskrant, Het Parool, Elle, Snoecks, Dido (Jack Russell), chai tea, Calamiteitenleer voor Gevorderden.
