One of the largest energy companies in Europe, RWE provides customers with electricity, gas, water and other related services. The key markets are Germany and Great Britain.  RWE has been active on the Dutch market since 2000 and is well on its way to acquiring an important position on the energy market. This energy company supplies gas and electricity to over 350,000 households and 30,000 companies in the Netherlands. The announced takeover of the Dutch company Essent means RWE will be the fourth largest energy company in Europe. RWE is part of RWE AG, one of the world's leading energy companies, with headquarters in Essen, Germany. In 2007, approximately 63,500 employees worldwide achieved a turnover of €42 billion.

Bijl advises RWE's HR department on various communication activities. Bijl saw to the in‑house and external communication when new terms and conditions of employment were introduced. Bijl also develops in-house newsletters, organises staff and management meetings and advised RWE on communication for the introduction of SAP, as well as developed a personnel handbook and competence guide for RWE.
