Province of Zuid-Holland

Visit the website

The most densely populated province in the Netherlands, Zuid-Holland is also the most important in economic, agricultural and service-provision terms. The many people who live and work in the province take part in a great many activities - in the Port of Rotterdam, in the administrative centre of The Hague and at the three major universities. A great deal of traffic also passes through this province by road, rail and waterways. There is also plenty of relaxation and space available in the province: vast rural areas, rivers, polders, lakes, dunes and endless sandy beaches. There is a real art to striking a good balance in a multifaceted province such as this. That is the job of the provincial government, together with the central government, the 86 municipal authorities and the water boards.

Bijl advises the province on communication issues regarding work performed on various provincial roads. Bijl also manages the various resources, such as brochures, information newspapers and websites, as well as takes responsibility for publicity in mostly local and regional media. Bijl is also often responsible for organising open house evenings for residents and press meetings.
