Since 1 January 1997, Friesland's official name has been Fryslân. In 2004, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to also ensure the consistent use of the official name in government documents. Fryslân is the largest province in the Netherlands, due in part to the Wadden islands. With a population density of 192 per square kilometre, Fryslân - after Drenthe - the second most sparsely populated province in the Netherlands.
Working in partnership with the communications firm Groot Haar + Orth of Leeuwarden, Bijl manages communication with respect to various infrastructure projects and the Frisian Lakes Project.
