Visit the website

Established in 1982, the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) aims to create a pleasant living environment and ensure a sustainable future. VROM consists of various divisions, including the environment, spatial planning and housing, communities and integration. The Government Buildings Agency and the VROM Inspectorate are also part of the ministry. VROM stands for making, implementing and maintaining policy.

Bijl saw to the entire organisation of the open house day on 2 April 2008 on behalf of VROM. The BestuurdersTop, an administrative summit attended by representatives of provincial and municipal authorities and district water boards, addressed three policy areas: the environmental permit (Wabo), the usage decree (Housing Act) and the new Spatial Planning Act. The website www.VROM-bestuurderstop.nl went live before the open house day. During the event, Bijl invited guests to ask the VROM Ministers questions during various sessions. Radio journalists produced short, up-to-date items later that afternoon, which were published later on the website.
